Below is a schedule of worship services at Messiah Lutheran.  In addition to our regular Sunday and Saturday services, we offer additional services throughout the church calendar year.  Please refer to this page for information regarding these special worship opportunities.

Divine Service, Sunday

Every Sunday @ 10:00am
1st and 3rd Saturday @ 5pm (unless otherwise announced)

Weekly we gather as a community of baptized believers to be nourished by the Holy Spirit through the teaching of God's Word and receiving the Body and Blood of Christ in the Lord's Supper.

Advent Services

The season of Advent is a time of expectation. In the weeks leading up to our celebration of The Nativity of our Lord (Christmas), the Church prepares by gathering for public worship at special Wednesday evening services (as well as Sunday) to hear the Gospel of Christ. Advent means "coming." Our preparation and expectation for Christ's coming is first, and always, a longing for His return on the last day when "every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord." Likewise, we also prepare our hearts during the Advent season for a blessed remembrance and celebration of Christ incarnate in the flesh and born in Bethlehem. Evangelical Lutheran worship observes the seasons of the Church Year as these point us away from our narrow interests and direct us into the life of Christ proclaimed throughout the cycle of the Church Year. This Life of Christ is for us never an empty remembrance but filled with the joyful recognition of the God who still speaks and acts in our midst by His grace in Word and Sacrament. We pray you are able to join us for our Advent celebrations, as we join also with our sister congregations Bethlehem Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran.

Epiphany

January 6 we observe the "Gentiles' Christmas" - the arrival of the Wise Men who journeyed to Bethlehem to see Baby Jesus. Epiphany means "made manifest". The character of the season of Epiphany is seen in the Scripture lessons that manifest just Who this Baby born in Bethlehem really is - God in the Flesh.

Lenten Services

The season of Lent is a solemn time of renewed emphasis on the disciplines associated with the Christian life. While repentance is to characterize all our daily walk with Christ, Lent is a special time to prayerfully strip away the encrusted layers of worldliness, asking God to renew us by means of His Word. Fasting and gifts to the poor, prayer and devotional meditation, are part of a Christian's daily walk, yet Lent affords us the time to more thoughtfully regiment our spiritual lives as the Holy Spirit works in us through His Word. The disciplines of Lent are never directed to God as if to purchase His favor, but rather grow from the Gospel of His free and undeserved love, overflowing into lives consecrated to His service. Our works mean nothing. God's work for us and in us saves. Lenten services are offered each Wednesday evening beginning with Ash Wednesday and all are invited to join us sinners redeemed in Jesus' blood.

Ascension Day

40 days after Easter. Ascension Day we celebrate Christ's return to the right hand of the Father where even now He rules all things in heaven and on earth on behalf of the Church which He purchased with His blood. Ascension Day is often a join service with Bethlehem Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran.

Reformation Day

On this day we thank God for the blessed light shone in His Church by the work of Dr. Martin Luther. On this day, October 31, 1517, Luther posted The 95 theses for discussion and debate. Luther's concern was the dangerous, damnable practice of selling indulgences. His work pointed the Church back to her foundations. Sola Scriptura - Scripture alone is the source of all doctrine. Sola Fide - Through faith alone are we saved. Good works serve our neighbor. They don't win us a place in heaven. Sola Gratia - By God's grace alone in Christ's death and resurrection are we saved. Faith clings to the person and work of Christ the Savior. Special services for Reformation Day are sometimes held on October 31 or on the evening of the Sunday that precedes it. Often these are joint celebrations of Lutheran congregations in the area. All are invited.
